Orient Point Residence : New York : 1981

The unique program for this 4,200 sq.ft. house incorporated a design studio, modelshop and presentation area into a vacation home and US retreat for a well known designer, his family and staff.

The principal structure is a wood frame cube oriented to maximize ocean views juxtaposed with a central masonry tower oriented for solar gain.

Conceptually, this rotation and overlay of two planning grids, generates a dynamic layout for the live/work areas in an open plan first floor and progressively scaled second floor bedrooms with individual decks.
