This project was selected as a finalist in the IFDA 8th International Furniture Design Competition 2011

The International Furniture Design Competition is held in conjunction with the International Furniture Fair in Asahikawa, Japan, The 2011 Competition received over 900 entries from 46 countries/regions.

The 'slotted' springboard back design embodies passive ergonomics derived directly from the intrinsic nature of laminated wood technology. The design responded to the competition theme by adhering to sustainable manufacturing tenants in reducing the scale of the product, re-cycling content through design for disassembly and the re-use of locally sourced wood products.
