Orient Point Residence
: New York : 1981

The unique program for this 4,200 sq.ft. house incorporated a design studio, model-shop and presentation area into a vacation home and US retreat for a well known designer, his family, and staff.

The principal structure is a wood frame cube oriented to maximize ocean views juxtaposed with a central masonry tower oriented for solar gain.

Conceptually, this rotation and overlay of two planning grids generates a dynamic layout for the live/work areas in an open-plan first floor and progressively scaled second floor bedrooms.

The project was reviewed in the July 1983 issue of Progressive Architecture Magazine.
