Laminated Ash Chair

Laminated Ash Chair : Royal College of Art : 1975

The Ash chair was designed by Paul Haigh as part of his post graduate studies at the Royal College of Art. It is presented as seminal to the development of many of the seating products within the studios' subsequent portfolio. Representing an approach to mass produced furniture design at the intersection of material poetics and technical innovation.

Individual tapered Ash veneers are laminated to form the side frame and leg structures, tensioned woven cane membranes form the seat and back supports.
